The Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union has suspended its sit-down strike following a crunch meeting held on May 23, 2024, with relevant Ministries in the petroleum value chain.

According to the National Chairman of the Union, George Nyaunu, the decision to halt the strike is because both parties have agreed that the group’s demands will be met.

Speaking to Journalists in Tema, Mr. Nyaunu detailed that the Union also met with key stakeholders, including the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover; the National Petroleum Authority, NPA; and Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Limited, BOST; and in further consultation with its members, “the Union decided to suspend the strike”.

He explained that the decision is based on three conditions that both Ministers and relevant players in the petroleum sector have agreed to.
