Floating Commercial Drivers at Tema Community One, whose vehicles have been detained by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, working in partnership with the Regional Police Command, are appealing for their vehicles to be released to them.

The drivers numbering about fifteen were at GBC in Tema over the incident.

They claimed they stopped at designated bus stops at the Meridian Area to pick passengers but were arrested, although their driving license and other vehicle documentations were intact.

According to them, the Assembly and the Police Command impounded some vehicles the previous day and the drivers were asked to pay a fine of ¢250.

Reacting to the concern, Head of the Transport Department of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, Edem Nyadudzi, explained that the law frowns on float driving since that usually cause nuisance on the roads.

He said commercial drivers must endeavour to register with Unions and ensure they load at designated places.
