TEWU initiates research project on COVID-19 to help government contain the pandemic

The Teachers and Educational Workers Union, TEWU, with support from Education International has launched a project known as the EI TEWU COVID-19 initiative.

It is geared towards providing a continuous update on the impact of COVID-19 on education support personnel.

General Secretary of TEWU, Mark Dankyira Korankye, said the initiative will among others provide independent and objective research on the sector to support government in containing the spread of the virus, especially in Second cycle institutions.

The National Chairman of TEWU, Ambrose Kwadzodza, said the EI-TEWU Covid-19 initiative is timely because of the emergence of the Delta Variant in the country. He appealed to government to consider its members during the vaccinations because they are prone to infection.

The Finance Officer of Education International Africa Regional Office, Yussif Abubakari, thanked TEWU for its commitment to protecting its members against the virus.

He said the initiative is essential and must be sustained in helping to curb further spread of the Delta Variant in schools.
