Today is International Universal Health Coverage Day. The day is set aside to raise awareness on the need to put in place strong and resilient health systems for all persons.
On this day Universal Health Coverage advocates raise their voices to share the stories of the millions of people waiting for healthcare, champion what has been achieved so far, call on leaders to make bigger and smarter investments in health.
The Day is also used to encourage diverse groups to make commitments to help move the world closer to Universal Health Coverage by 2030.
In a message, the UN Secretary-General António Guterres called on all to reaffirm their commitment to health for all as an investment in humanity, wellbeing, and prosperity for everyone.
