Ukraine calls on Ghana to join Global Peace Summit

Ukraine’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Dr. Maksym Subkh has extended an invitation to Ghana, hoping for its participation in a Global Peace Summit to be held in Switzerland, aimed at implementing a peace plan to resolve the current war in Ukraine resulting from Russia’s invasion.

During the inauguration of the Ukrainian Embassy in Accra on April 12, 2024, Ukraine’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and Africa, Dr. Maksym Subkh, expressed the intention to organize a Global Peace Summit involving heads of state and government.

This summit seeks to establish a framework for a comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace.

Dr. Subkh emphasized Ukraine’s commitment to fostering bilateral relations with Ghana at all levels, highlighting the embassy’s role in facilitating political, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations.

He noted the historical foundation of trust and friendship between Ukraine and Ghana.

Furthermore, Dr. Subkh highlighted Ukraine’s readiness to offer high-quality goods and services to Ghana, emphasizing the potential for increased trade and economic cooperation.

He also underscored the embassy’s role in facilitating Ghana’s access to Ukraine’s marketplace and creating employment opportunities.

“It should be noted that Ukraine has made a great deal of work over the past few years to prepare for the opening of the land market, several important draft laws have been adopted. Digital technologies, such as electronic land (e-land) registries and electronic services (e-services), play a very important role in this process.”

In light of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Dr. Subkh reiterated Ghana’s steadfast support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
