Some Poultry Farmers in the Upper West region have expressed fears that if shortage of feed persists, the nutritional status of Ghanaians particularly children will be seriously affected.

The Farmers say government may be compelled to allow the importation of eggs as is the case for Poultry meat which may lead to an increase in the price of eggs on the market.

Speaking to Radio Ghana at Wa, a poultry farmer Lamin Iddris, said if the Poultry industry is allowed to collapse the unemployment situation in the country will rise sharply.

Mr.Iddris, therefore, appealed to government to quickly address the problem of shortage of feed before it gets out of hand.

Mr. Iddris said he has started selling off his thirty thousand bird farm including layers because he has run out of feed for the birds.

He said though prices of wheat bran and soya which are used to prepare the feed have gone up, they are unavailable on the market.
