The Chief Executive Officer of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Owusu Hene, popularly known as Kofi Kapito, has disclosed that Valentine’s Day is not for sex but for love.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast show, he debunked the notion that the day is not a sex holiday as most Ghanaians have made it.

According to him, there is a difference between “sex love” and “love”, and on this occasion, everyone around you can be your Valentine. You don’t really need anyone special because it is a month of love and everyone can be your Valentine.

“Valentine, your mother can be your Valentine; your brother can be your Valentine; your core workers can be your Valentine,” he mentioned.

He made this known because of the attitude of most youth over the years on Valentine’s Day when they engage in sexual immorality. He added that chocolate has the most sales during that time because most people purchase it as a symbol of love during this month.

He entreated Ghanaians to channel the day into purchasing more chocolate and other products made in Ghana as a symbol of love to bring more commercial value to the country rather than engaging in sexual immorality during this time.

He said in other jurisdictions, during this season, they take advantage of this time to purchase their products to bring commercial value to their country. Therefore, Ghanaians need to take advantage of this day to increase sales of products made in Ghana.
