Valley View University has conferred an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters on President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, former President John Agyekum Kufuor, and former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings; and a Doctor of Science on the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, for their contributions to society.
The honorary degrees were conferred on these distinguished personalities at the 1st Special Congregation for the Conferment of Honorary Degrees by the University.
President Hichilema who was the Special Guest of honour commended the government for the conscious effort to improve Ghana’s educational sector.
He said no country can excel without investing in education as it is key for national development. He also expressed gratitude to the leadership of Valley View University for their exemplary role in education across the globe.
It was during the tenure of former President Agyekum Kufour when the Valley View University received a Presidential Charter to operate as an autonomous degree-awarding institution, making it the first private Chartered University in Ghana.
In a remark, former President Kufour charged all, to exhibit excellence in all circumstances, especially when given the opportunity to serve.
