The Dean, Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Anglican Diocese of Accra, Very Rev. Dr. George Kotei Neequaye has been ordained a Suffragan Bishop of Accra after being elected and approved last year by the Anglican Church at its 24th Diocesan Synod.
At the Episcopal Ordination Consecration Service in Accra which was graced by the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Highveld, South Africa, the Right Reverend Charles Mthetheleli May, said this is a call to a higher service and God will grant Very Rev Dr Neequaye the grace to proclaim His word to all nations. He encouraged him to continue to have faith in God.
Vice President Bawumia entreated all to eschew corrupt practices that undermine the development of the country.
Mercy Darko reports that ordained as a Priest in 1987, Very Rev. Dr George Kotei Neequaye served in many Parishes and was appointed Canon in 2006.
He also became the Archdeacon of the Accra Northeast and the Dean of the Cathedral Church of the Most Trinity.
Very Rev. Dr. Neequaye’s Episcopal Ordination Consecration elevates him to the Suffragan Bishop of Accra.
As a Suffragan Bishop, Very Rev. Dr. Neequaye will assist the Anglican Bishop of Accra.
Vice President Bawumia in a remark said the role of the Anglican Church in the country cannot be underestimated as it has provided refuge in the Lord to many.
He applauded the Church for its contribution to nation building as it has always preached against corruption.
”The Bible admonishes all not to invest in the flesh but in the spirit”, according to Dr. Bawumia.
He spoke about how corrupt practices, which in his view bring retrogression, and stress on the government, which is why it is building a system that will enhance accountability and transparency, the Vice President posited.
In a sermon, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Highveld, South Africa, Rt. Rev. Charles Mthetheleli May said all have been called to render service to God.
He said God who has called Very Rev. Dr. Neequaye to serve will grant him the grace to be diligent in his work.
Very Rev. Dr Neequaye in a brief remark pledged his commitment to honor God and be faithful to his calling.
He swore an Oath to uphold the doctrines of the Anglican Church. The Very Rev. Dr Neequaye was born on March 25, 1959.
He earned his certificate in Ministry and Diploma in Theology in 1986. Very Rev. Neequaye lectured in the Trinity Theological Seminary and also served as the Vice President of the Seminary.
