Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has joined the people and government of Guyana in commemorating the country’s Independence Day celebrations.

The celebrations commenced with an interfaith thanksgiving service held on the lawns of the State House, bringing together government officials, religious leaders, members of the diplomatic corps and citizens from various backgrounds to offer prayers for national unity, peace and continued development.

The event formed part of activities marking Guyana’s independence anniversary and highlighted the country’s commitment to religious tolerance, social cohesion and national progress. Participants used the occasion to reflect on the nation’s journey since attaining independence and to reaffirm their collective commitment to building a prosperous future.

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang joined dignitaries and invited guests at the ceremony, demonstrating the strong diplomatic ties and longstanding relations between Ghana and Guyana. Her participation underscored Ghana’s commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation with countries across the globe, particularly within the Global South.
