The Wa East District Assembly has given some items and money to 64 physically challenged persons in the district, in line with the two percent budgetary allocation of the District Assembly Common Fund for the disabled.

The support valued at GH¢75,584 is to give a leg to the recipients in respect of their income generating activities, health and educational needs.

Items distributed include sewing machines, wheel chairs, provisions and cheques to promote income generation among beneficiaries.

Making the presentation at the District capital, Funsi, the DCE Moses Jotie, admonished persons with disability to make good use of their share of the common fund, so as to live meaningful and dignified lives.

The District Chief Executive, Moses Jotie hoped that the items and money disbursed will help give meaning to government’s quest to ensure that Persons With Disabilities PWDs are equipped with employable skills as contained in the coordinated programme of economic and social Development Policies 2017 to 2024.

He said funds allocated for PWDs are often inadequate. He promised to ensure that funds for income generating activities are substantial to help lift PWDs out of poverty.
