Water level in the Bui Hydroelectric Dam has dropped drastically to its lowest operating level.

The situation is hampering the dam’s ability to produce enough power to add to the national generation mix.

The facility is now producing less than one gigawatts hour of power daily.

The Chief Executive of Ghana Grid Company, GRIDCo, Mr Jonathan Amoako-Baah gave details in an interview in Kumasi.

“In the past, what was happening was that we had Bui Dam to generate voltage to support what was been transported from the South. As we speak now, the level of Bui is precariously low because last year, there were not much rains into the Bui reservoir. So we have passed the lowest operating level.”
