A Caterer with the Ashanti Regional Division of the National School Feeding Programme, Madam Dorothy Ofori Sarpong, has cried out on behalf of her colleagues to former Gender Minister, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba, saying they have missed her.

The caterers according to reports have petitioned the Ashanti Regional Minister over some unpaid monies owed them for two academic terms.

Madam Dorothy Ofori Sarpong said the need to petition the Regional Minister came on the back of their concerns not being attended to by their leaders and executives.

In an interview with Kafui Dey on the GTV Breakfast Show, the emotional Caterer could not help but voice out how badly the Caterers under the programme miss the former Gender Minister. She recounted how Madam Otiko Djaba will try all her best to make sure every penny owed them by the government is paid accordingly. She added that Madam Otiko’s proactiveness and communication to them has been missed in times like this.

“We miss Otiko, let me mention it. When Otiko was there, School feeding was not like that. Otiko, the former Gender Minister, She will pay even when you have twenty or thirty days. She will pay when the money comes and tell you that this is all we can pay now… as soon as the money comes, this woman will settle everybody… we miss Otiko”, she said.

Madam Dorothy shared her disappointment in the inability of the Regional Minister to meet them when their petition was submitted. She said they needed some clarifications on their payment per head, whether it has been increased by what they have heard or still sits at the old one and called for an investigation into issues of underpayment.

“The Government said it has increased per head payment to GHS 2 for about two years now but we are still experiencing the GHS 0.97p and the GHS 0.97p too they reduced the number of days we cooked. The money is just not enough for us to accept it”, she added.
