Director-General of the National Communication Authority (NCA), Joe Anokye says the Authority does not have the mandate to regulate social media.

According to Mr. Anokye, NCA does not regulate content on social media.

He disclosed this when he took his turn at the ‘Meet-The-Press’ series in Accra on Monday  (October 14) morning.

There have been rumors that NCA is planning to shut down social media networks in 2020 during the presidential and parliamentary elections.

Mr. Anokye stated that it is not true that the NCA will shut down social media networks in 2020.

‘It is one of the fake news you have out there and it is not within the mandate of the NCA to regulate social media whether facebook or whichever one it is”  the NCA Director-General said.
