The Daily Graphic believes the vital role of education must be the inculcation of societal values into future generations. The paper says if the importance of education is remarkable then it stands to reason, that the critical role of people who are mandated to educate the citizenry must be recognised and appreciated. It is for this reason that the paper believes that aside from awards, teachers must be given their due to get them to commit to their work which can spur good teacher-learner relationship to facilitate learning.
The Ghanaian Times welcomes the amendment of the Minerals and Mining Act which prescribes stiffer punishment for people who engage in galamsey. The paper hopes the new measures become a solution to the degradation of the environment. It says strict enforcement of the law is the best way illegal miners can be prevented from continuing their act. The Times therefore calls on the security agencies not to depend on just the law taking its course but also strengthening their duties to keep the galamseyers away from the mining areas.
