The Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo has warned contractors working on government projects to ensure contracts are executed according to specifications or risk being surcharged.

He said he will not hesitate to recommend sanctions to government against contractors who try to short change the system.

Mr Domelevo said this when he led a team to begin the audit of some roads across the country.

He said Ghanaians should rise and demand quality and value for money on any government project.

The roads which include the Airport- Madina Adentan one, were selected randomly for the audit.

Cylinder samples were taken on the road to check for thickness, quality of materials used, as well as length and width to ascertain if they match specifications.

Mr. Domelovo said the audit is not targeting any contractor but just ensuring that government gets value for money.

He said those who have carried out road construction projects are not exempted if the audit falls within the warranty period.

Mr. Domelovo said the Auditor General will commend contractors who are able to execute projects to specification.
