Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years, with Mikel Arteta’s side sealing the 2025–26 title after a 1–0 win over Burnley and Manchester City’s 1–1 draw with AFC Bournemouth left the Gunners four points clear at the top, with only one league game remaining.

The triumph marks the culmination of a steady rebuild under Arteta, who guided Arsenal to three consecutive second‑place finishes before finally lifting the trophy.

How Arsenal won the league

Arsenal’s consistency and defensive solidity were central, with the team keeping the most clean sheets in the league (19) and goalkeeper David Raya earning his third straight Golden Glove award.

A strong base at the back allowed Arsenal’s attack and midfield to press and control games, giving them the edge over City across the course of the season.

Double and Guardiola angle

The Premier League title sets up the possibility of a historic “double” if Arsenal defeat Paris Saint‑Germain in the UEFA Champions League final on May 30.

The league miss could also spell the end of Pep Guardiola’s tenure at Manchester City, with reports suggesting he will not remain as manager after this season, potentially closing a dominant era in English football.
