Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has urged Presiding Members and District Assemblies against making partisan decisions at the local level to the detriment of the country’s security.

He said, as the country approaches an election year, they must strive to avoid decisions that favour one political party against the other. He stated that partisanship threatened the independence of local government administration.

The Speaker urged them to take into consideration the volatile nature of elections and make decisions that would not compromise public security as the election season approaches.

He reiterated that by safeguarding the integrity and political nature of district assemblies, efficiency and effectiveness will be enhanced to meet the safety needs of local communities.
