Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea announced that their tragic young star Dominic Frimpong, will be laid to rest on April 29, 2026, in his hometown of Assin Fosu, Central Region.

Frimpong died from gunshot wounds suffered during a brazen armed robbery on the team’s bus on April 12 along the Ahyiaresu-Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in Nyinahin District.

The squad was returning from a loss to Samartex in Samreboi when masked gunmen ambushed them, firing as the vehicle reversed, leaving players and staff to flee into bushes.

The loss has rocked Ghanaian football, drawing tributes from peers, clubs, and CAF President Patrice Motsepe, while reigniting urgent calls for better security on domestic travel routes.

Berekum Chelsea paused operations, providing psychological support and medical checks for affected members as police probe deepens, two suspects, including an alleged gang leader, now detained.

Family, teammates, officials, and fans will gather in Assin Fosu to honor Frimpong’s bright promise, cut short. Ghana football mourns a son lost too soon, demanding safer roads ahead.
