The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) says it is beefing up security around its installations across the country.

The Chief Executive Officer, (CEO) of BOST, Edwin Provencal,  disclosed this at a seminar for members of the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ) in Dodowa.

The seminar organized by IFEJ in collaboration with BOST, aimed to educate the media on the mandate and operations of BOST.

According to Mr. Provencal, management is in discussion with National Security to put more men on the ground.

“I am sure we all acknowledge what happened to GRIDCo, not so well meaning Ghanaians decided to hack the towers. Same thing can happen to BOST. And so we are in constant collaboration with the National Security to ensure that we start patrolling our lines so that we can have security of supply during the election year and beyond.”

Mr. Provencal added that, BOST is looking to incorporate technology into its security surveillance system, to augment the patrols.

“We need to introduce technology and in the medium term, once the funds we’re sourcing for comes, we will be in a place to do these patrols regularly as well as have the control room that electronically monitors our lines.”

BOST has installations at Buipe and Bolgatanga as well as q booster station at Savelugu all in northern Ghana. At full capacity, 4.5 million litres , equivalent to 51 BRVs or tankers of  of oil is discharged weekly for use in northern Ghana and for export to Niger, Burkina and Mali.
