The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has engaged members of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry to share his vision with the Association.

Dr Bawumia said Ghana has the potential to become the foremost country in the world if the private sector is equipped to play its pivotal role in the economy.

He reiterated the need to address challenges that will make the private sector more competitive, pledging his commitment to partner the private sector, especially the GNCCI, to transform the economy, promising to do things differently when elected into power.

The flagbearer of the NPP, Dr Bawumia described the meeting with the GNCCI as key, stressing that the Association represents the voice of the business community in Ghana and serves as a link between the private sector and government at various levels of the economy.

The meeting, which brought together more than 200 members of the GNCCI, provided an avenue for members to share ideas and make suggestions to the government on how to improve the business environment for the private sector to thrive.

President of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Clement Osei Amoako, in a remark said the chamber recognising the efforts of the government in creating a conducive environment for businesses, pledged their support. The association had some proposals for the government.

These include the need to remove the covid-19 levy, a review of duties and levies at the ports and intermittent power outages.

Dr Bawumia, in response, said the government recognises the important role the private sector plays in the development of the economy and is committed to create a conducive environment for the sector to thrive.

He said his manifesto will outline his vision to transform the sector.
Dr also touched on the high import duties charged at the ports.

Dr. Bawumia is expected to engage other key stakeholders.
