The Minister of Finance, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has asked the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), to work to exceed the 145 billion cedis target outlined in the 2024 Budget.

He emphasised that the Finance Ministry and the GRA need to urgently agree on a roadmap to enable the GRA to exceed the revenue target and meet pressing needs, including completing critical infrastructure.

Dr Amin Adam said achieving and exceeding the targets is also critical to the success of the IMF-Extended Credit Facility (ECF) Programme.

He made the comments when he paid a working visit to the GRA, his first major working visit after replacing Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister in the recent ministerial reshuffle.

The Finance Minister added that it is time to roll-out and expand the E-VAT mechanism, despite the challenges that exist.

He urged staff of the GRA to work with renewed urgency towards reducing the human contact in the revenue processes.
