Minister Designate for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta says Government will leverage on digitization to increase revenue generation.

Mr. Ofori-Atta said government intends to shore up revenue from the current 12.5 percent of GDP to 20 percent.

According to Mr. Ofori-Atta, government hopes that the economy will bounce back in 3 years with the help of digitization and other revenue generation strategies introduced in the 2021 budget.

He describes the increase in taxes in some parts of the economy as sacrifice Ghanaians have to make in order to help government with debt sustainability.

He made this known at the virtual KPMG post budget forum.

Meanwhile, a Development Economist at the University of Ghana, Dr. George Domfeh tells Business News that considering the rebound of economic activities coupled with the recovery measures outlined in the 2021 Budget Statement, Ghana can be out of the woods in the next two years if government commits to fully implement these recovery policies.
