Inflation jumps to 37.2%, September 2022

The Ghana Statistical Service has revealed that the year-on-year inflation rate for September 2022 based on the 16 administrative Regions as reviewed stood at 37.2%.
The month-on-month inflation between August 2022 and September 2022 was 2.0% and the CPI for September 2022 based on the new series stood at 140.6%.
The current rate was heavily influenced by food and utility tariffs.
On the regional level, Eastern Region has taken the lead with 47.1% with Upper West recording the lowest rate of 22.9%.
Speaking at the Press Conference in Accra on Wednesday, 12th October 2022, The Government Statistician Professor Samuel Kobina Annin said, food inflation (0.437) was 37.8% and month-on-month Food inflation was 2.2%.
Non-food Inflation (0.563)  was 36.8% with month-on-month Non-Food inflation recoding 1.7%.
According to him, inflation for locally produced items was 35.8%Inflation for imported items was 40.7%.
