The Liquefied Petroleum Gas, LPG Marketers Association of Ghana, has appealed to government to reconsider the decision to introduce new tax on a kilogramme of gas.

This according to the group will overburden consumers and increase their cost of operations. The comment follows the government’s plans to increase every kilogramme of gas by 18 pesewas, a development that will take effect this month.

Speaking on Uniiq Breakfast Drive, Vice President of the Association, Gabriel Kumi said this period is unfavourable for such an increase given the fact that Ghana’s LPG prices are the highest in the sub-region.

Mr Kumi said previous pleas to government to reduce existing taxes has not been heeded to.

Mr Kumi said this development will defeat government’s own purpose of increasing access to LPG usage in Ghana.
