Twenty out of the twenty one alleged secessionists recruits of the Western Togoland Organisation have been discharged by an Accra Circuit court.

The court, presided over by Ellen Offei Aryeh, had to discharge them because prosecution told the court they have no evidence to buttress the charges of participation in the campaign of a prohibited organisation, the Western Togoland and attending the meeting of prohibited organisation levelled against them.

The prosecution said the suspects are only victims of circumstance after investigations revealed, that they paid monies between four hundred and eight hundred cedis under the guise of being recruited into the Ghana Armed Forces.

Anthony Dormekpo, a driver by profession is the only one left to be prosecuted. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Simon Apioursonu, told the court that the accused person a resident of Akatsi in the Volta Region is the one who accommodated some of the recruits, while others were transported to Dzodze, where the Western Togoland had its training camp.

The accused persons were arrested in a military swoop at Dzodze in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, on the 17th of December last year.

The case has been adjourned to 19th of this month to start trial.
