422,883 registered candidates sit for 2022 WASSCE in Ghana

The 2022 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE begun yesterday, August 1, 2022 with project works at all centres across the country. 422,883 candidates, have registered to write the examination.

Students who pass the WASSCE will receive a certificate confirming their graduation from Senior High School.

The candidates wrote practical papers in Basketry, Ceramics and Graphic Design yesterday.

The 422,883 registered candidates are from 977 schools, made up of 673 public schools and 304 private schools.

There are also 72 visually impaired candidates as well as 14 candidates with hearing impairment.

When the News Team went round some of the centres, there were indications that papers begun on schedule. While some schools did not experience late submission of examination questions from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) officials, others had theirs late.

In an interview, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, enumerated some measures WAEC has put in place to ensure the examinations go on smoothly.

This year’s WASSCE runs from August 1 and ends on September 27.
