The Ho Technical University has debunked media reports that the Minister of Education had revoked the appointment of its Vice Chancellor, Professor Ben Quarshie Honyenuga.

“We wish to state for the information of the University community, alumni and the general public that neither council nor the management of Ho Technical University has been served notice of revocation of the appointment of a Vice Chancellor for the University”, a statement signed by Dr C.K Amehoe, Interim Registrar of the University and copied to the Ghana News Agency stated.

It said the Council of the University at its 29th special meeting on January 18th, 2019 unanimously approved the appointment of Professor Honynuga as Vice-Chancellor of the University following receipt of report of a search committee for Vice-Chancellor for the University, constituted by Council.

The statement said the National Council for Tertiary Education was notified of the decision of Council and requested for appropriate terms and conditions under, which the Vice-Chancellor should be appointed and described as untrue reports that the Vice-Chancellor’s appointment had been revoked.

It said the University had on record, a call for probe into the authenticity of Professor Honyenuga’s doctorate degree from two faculty members of the University, which matter the National Accreditation Board had dealt with and certified in a letter dated December 13th, 2018 to the University.
