Management of The Technical and Vocational Training Institute (TVET) says even though government has rolled out the Double Track system for Senior High Schools, posting students to TVET Training Schools remains a challenge to the institutions.

The National Coordinator for Network of TVET, Rebecca Ampa- Akorsah, said government should have addressed the problem before implementing the Double Track Policy, since the challenge that came with the Computerised Placement System still persists.

The Assistant Public Relations officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service, Anthony Amoah, said the Ghana Education Service (GES) has not relegated TVET to the background.

He indicated that there are Technical and Vocational Institutions, recognised by the GES.

The double track is an initiative of the government to address the growing number of students benefiting from the Free Senior High School (SHS) Policy.
At least 490,514 candidates who sat the 2018 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) qualified to be in senior high schools (SHS) and technical institutes for the commencement of the double-track educational system.
They constitute 90 per cent of the 521,710 candidates who registered for the BECE this year.
