Government will by close of the year (2019), scrap the affiliation regime of Private Universities.
This will ensure that qualified and deserving private universities which hitherto, were not autonomous, issue certificates to their graduates.
Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, Prof. Kwesi Yankah, disclosed this at an induction of newly elected Executives of the Private University Students Association, PUSAG, in Accra.
Prof. Yankah said the issue of academic freedom is essential as the current policy of affiliation frustrates most private universities.
