About 25% of applicants to 2021/22 Academic Year at Kumasi Technical University deemed not qualified

Out of 6,771 students who applied to pursue professional programmes at the Kumasi Technical University for the 2021/2022 academic year, only 4,488 students gained admission.

About 25% of all those who applied were deemed unqualified by the University Administration. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Engineer Professor Osei-Wusu Achaw stated this at a ceremony to admit the fresh students into the institution.

Razak Baba reports that the Matriculation, although an annual ritual, has a lot of significance to the acceptance of fresh students into the Kumasi Technical University as members of the institution. It is a rite of passage which also legitimizes the status of all fresh students of the University, conferring on them academic and social rights as well as other privileges.

It equally imposes on students some rights and responsibilities. The 2021/2022 Matriculation ceremony witnessed the formal admittance of 4, 488 fresh students to pursue accredited programmes in the University.

The institution received 6,771 applications. However, about 25% of all those who applied were deemed unqualified. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Engineer Professor Osei-Wusu Achaw advised the students to live a life above reproach.
