The Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University for Development Studies (UDS), Professor Felix Abagale, has called on Parliament to pass the bill on National Research Fund, NRF.

Professor Abagale said allocating two percent of Oil Revenue, 10 percent of GETFUND and three percent of Natural Mineral Resources Royalties to the National Research Fund will provide quality research activities in the country.

Professor Abagale made the call in a speech read for him at the 2020 Annual Inter-Disciplinary Conference of UDS in Tamale.

The main objective of the conference was to provide a platform for Academia, Scientists, Industrial Professionals and Researchers from all over the world to present the results of their Research activities from diverse fields.

The Pro-Vice-Chancellor called on Government to increase the Book and Research Allowance to take care of the growing need for research and build the knowledge database of the Country.

He appealed to Government to include the Book and Research Allowance of University Staff on the payroll.

This, according to Mr Abagale, will forestall delays in annual payments and huge amounts that Government has to always make available within a short period.
