The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev. Titus Awortwi Pratt has charged the West African Examination Council, WAEC to fill all loopholes to avoid any leakage in this year’s BECE which starts today.

He alleged that illegalities are propagated mostly by some members of the Council and parents who purchase questions for their children to pass. He said if these acts are tackled at the appropriate quarters it will help avoid examination malpractices in the country.

Most Rev. Awortwi Pratt spoke with GBC News at the induction ceremony of the newly elected Lay Chairmen of the Methodist Church at Gbawe Methodist Church, Accra. Hannah Dadzie reports that it was a colourful event as the new Diocesan Lay Chairmen were decorated with gowns and badges.

In all, three New Diocesan Chairmen within the Connexion were inducted into office. They are Abraham Asare Sackitey, Somanya, Felix Kweku Addo, Foso and Dr.Kenneth Dadzie Sagoe, Northern Accra Diocese. The church used the occasion to pray for all BECE Candidates as they begin their final Examination.
The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, Most Rev.Titus Awortwi Pratt advised the Candidates to stay focused and come out with flying colours.
He advised against Examination malpractices.

“We will always pray, we always advise but if the questions are coming out, it is coming from where they are made and those who are able to get access to where the questions are. I never heard it in our schooling days that what is happening today has happened. When this is stopped at these sources, I believe we won’t have any such things happening again. I was listening to a documentary and someone was saying that an hour before the paper is written, the questions are in the strong room of the Exam Council but, sometimes, half an hour before time, people have them on their mobile phones. So, if there is any leakage, it is from the ‘big house’ itself.” Rev. Aworti Pratt noted.

Most Rev Awotwi Pratt who performed the induction service urged the newly inducted officers to work with their Bishops to help transform their Diocese.

” I believe that if you work faithfully with the Bishops, you will learn a lot and I believe the work will be easier because the Bishops alone cannot carry out the functions”… he said.

Most Rev. Awortwi Pratt called on the leaders and members of the church to help them to discharge their duties effectively and efficiently.
