The 1974 year group of the St Mary’s Senior High School in Accra, SMOGA 74 has handed over a Pavement Project involving paving a section of the compound linking two blocks of dormitories to their bathrooms.

SMOGA 74 undertook the project to relieve the students from walking from muddy grounds from the bathhouse to their dormitories, especially when it rains.

The project cost more than twenty-six thousand Ghana cedis and was funded by levies by SMOGA 74.

At the commissioning, the President of SMOGA 74, also known as the Princesses, Mrs. Comfort Dela Ayekpa said celebrating 50 after completing Secondary school is a landmark celebration, and SMOGA 74 is happy to mark the occasion by associating itself with the development of its Alma Mater.

The group is particularly happy that God has seen them through these years with good health.

She thanked every member both home and abroad for the support, especially with funds to see the project through and especially before the rains set in.

The Head Mistress of the school, Mrs Philomena Owusu-.Ansah expressed the school’s gratitude to SMOGA 74 for the intervention as it is a great relief for both the school and management.

A member of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Esther Mullings said nothing can be more joyful than the ability to say thank u to one’s Alma mater for giving her sound grounding in life.

The project was dedicated by Rev. Father Dominic Amanor.

St Mary’s Senior High School was established in February 1950 as an all female second cycle Catholic institution which has over the years churned out responsible women holding reputable positions both at the national and international levels. Present at the colourful ceremony were the national President of SMOGA and other SMOGA groups.
