The Director of Nobel High School, Alice Frimpong Sarkodie (Ms Sark), has stated that Ghana’s development is hinged on technical education.

She made this statement at the 1st Ghana Technical Awards and Tech Fair event held to award Ghanaian youths putting technical knowledge into practice and also provide a platform to showcase their innovative works.

The event was held on August 12 at the Gnat Premium Hostels. It started in the morning with a Tech Fair where various innovations were displayed.

Others were a wooden bicycle, solar-powered sensor lights, a solar-powered sprayer, beautiful paintings, and many more.

The awards segment started in the evening and was well attended by both the young and the senior citizens who had come to support their children, making the hall full to its capacity and still having a number of audience enjoying the event from the frontage of the hall.

The event was graced by the honourable presence of Eng. Dr. Stephen Turkson, Nana Yaa Konadu of Despite Media, Prince Siita of AFCFTA Young Entrepreneurs, Prof. Goski Alabi, and many others.

Ms. Sark, who was also one of the organisers for the event, said it is a project beyond awards that aims at inviting and exciting the youth for national development.

She added that grammar education is synonymous with having a manual for a machine, but the only way to make it practical is through technical education.

Also, she charged Ghanaians to play their respective roles to promote and encourage technical education and practice without always looking up to government.

The chairman of the occasion, Eng. Dr. Stephen Turkson, added that the program is the right way to go. He said awarding the potential of the youths will encourage them to go into Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET), which he believes Ghana as a country will benefit from.
