There was an hour delay in the start of Social Studies Paper-Two in the ongoing Basic Certificate Examinations Certificate Examinations, BECE, at Odorkor Saleria Cluster of Schools in Accra.

Our Correspondent Hannah Dadzie who visited some of the Centres in Accra, reports that a wrong key to the box containing the Examination Papers was instead taken leading to delay.

The Supervisor at the Centre, Daniel Kwasi Biyie told GBC NEWS this will not affect the next paper as arrangements have been made.

GBC NEWS visited the Accra Newtown Experimental, Nima cluster of school and Odorkor Saleria cluster of schools. Investigators, Supervisors, and Police Officers were at post to see to the smooth running of the Examination. The candidates were busily writing their Social Studies Paper 2.

At the New Town Experimental Centre, a total of 367 candidates registered to write the exams at the centre but four students were absent. The Paper which was supposed to start at 9 am started at 10 am at Odorkor Saleria cluster of schools. The Supervisor Daniel Kwasi Biyie explains further.

“Actually everything was set as at the 9 o’clock, we were about to start when we tried opening the question paper but the key to the paddock was exchanged, so we were not able to open, we had to take it back to get the right key before we could open. We were supposed to finish this by 10:45 am but because of the delay it will move to 11:45 am and the next paper starts at 1 pm but it won’t affect it,” Mr Biyie indicated.

Some of the candidates who had just completed their first spoke to GBCNEWS.

“Social Studies we all thought it’s going to be something difficult but when we saw the question paper we were very relaxed and we really did our best,” A BECE candidate, Awadzi Whitney Elikplim.

“Before I entered the examination hall I was scared, but when I sat down and the papers were distributed, I saw it was nothing difficult, it’s just like our mocks we’ve written in the school. It’s nothing scary.” Another candidate Christian Adjei

“We were told about these exams so many times to such an extent that we thought it was going to be something difficult but due to the advice our teachers gave us and the training they took us through, it was very so simple,” Nuhu Mohammed.

The Examination is scheduled to end on Friday, November 19, 2021, with Information and Communication Technology.
