Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Iddie Adams, says the government has already secured 1,000 tickets for Black Stars supporters ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He described the tournament as one of the most expensive for fans and said the early purchase was meant to protect Ghanaians from rising costs.

Adams explained that the decision to act early helped the country avoid paying far more later. “Luckily for us, we managed and planned very well and effectively. We ordered for 1,000,” he said, adding that waiting longer would have made the tickets much more expensive.

He also made clear that the government’s effort is only part of a wider support plan. According to him, the Ghana Football Association and other organisations have also secured tickets to help more fans travel and attend matches in North America.

The Black Stars are stepping up preparations for the tournament, starting with a friendly against Wales at the Cardiff City Stadium before facing Jamaica on June 10 in their final warm-up match. Ghana will then head to the World Cup in Group L, where they will face Panama, England and Croatia.

The Black Stars begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, meet England on June 23, and complete their group stage against Croatia on June 27. With fan support being organised early, officials hope Ghanaian supporters will be well represented in the stands throughout the tournament.
