The Acting Sector Commander-Sunyani Collection of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mrs. Comfort Manu-Marfo has called on Ghanaians to pay their taxes regularly to develop the country.

According to her, without the taxes it will be difficult for a country to develop, as the tax revenue is used to finance road construction and other development initiatives.

Mrs. Manu-Marfo said this on the sidelines of a clean-up exercise organised by the Ghana Revenue Authority in Sunyani-the Bono Regional Capital.

Sanitation is a topical issue in Ghana. The country has been battling with the issue of sanitation for ages. Sunyani, the Suncity of Ghana and the then Brong Ahafo Regional Capital is now losing its reputation as a clean city because of filth.

In an attempt to get the city back to its former status, the Ghana Revenue Authority in Sunyani as part of their social responsibility organized a clean-up exercise.

The GRA Staff swept and desilted gutters around the central business district of Sunyani.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, the Acting Sector Commander of the GRA, Sunyani Collection, Mrs. Comfort Manu-Marfo said, cleanliness is something that every Ghanaian must inculcate in their everyday life.

According to her, GRA does not want to be known for tax collection alone but sanitation as well. Mrs. Comfort Manu-Marfo said the GRA is working to improve tax collection and entreated all Ghanaians to pay their taxes to achieve the Ghana beyond aid vision.

The Environment Health Analyst for Sunyani Municipal Assembly, Mr. Daniel Owusu Korkor for his part said, welcomed the contributions of various institutions in the effort to get Sunyani regain its cleanest city tag.

He indicated next week all Tertiary institutions in the municipality will team up for a clean-up exercise.

Mr. Korkor debunked claims that Sunyani has lost its standing as the cleanest city.
