An Orthodontic Consultant at the Platinum Dental Services, Dr. Norvishie Arkut has revealed that the beverages we take contain huge amount of sugars that tend to damage our teeth and also cause diabetes as well as other chronic illnesses.

She made this revelation on the GTV’s Breakfast Show during the Health Check Segment.

Dr. Arkut explained that every time anything edible is taken specifically with sugar, it lowers the PH in the mouth.
Again, she stated that most of the drinks people take, do not realize they have sugars in them which is not good for the teeth especially when people take 2-3 hours to consume a drink and later try to rinse their mouth with it, she noted it is a bad habit because it puts more pressure on the teeth due to the amount of sugar that it contains.
She then demonstrated that water contains no sugar at all where as coconut water contains half to a cube of sugar which makes it practically safe to consume but moving forward, the traditional fizzy drinks contain close to 10 cubes of sugar in them.

She advised individuals to desist from mixing alcohol with fizzy drinks to add taste as it is rather decreasing the PH in the teeth and will weaken the teeth as well.
