Manager of the Expanded Programme on Immunisation at the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Kwame Amponsah-Achiano has refuted claims that more than 1,500 jabs of the covid-19 vaccines are due to expire on Friday, April 16.
This comes after the Northern Regional Director of Public Health, Hilarius Abiwu, explained that the AstraZaneca vaccines were manufactured on October 16, 2020, and are expected to last for six months.
According to him, as a precautionary measure, the directorate ended the ongoing vaccination exercise on Wednesday, April 14, due to advice from the Food and Drugs Authority.
Mr. Achiano, however, believes the vaccines in stock will expire in June.
