Ghana has hosted the Regional launch of the Africa Vaccination Week with a series of activities to raise awareness on the importance of vaccination, and also showcase the successes in Ghana and other African countries.
The Vaccination Week celebrated in the last week of April every year sought to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against diseases.
Ghana will thus jointly commemorate Africa Vaccination Week and the Annual Child Health Promotion Week.
The Africa Vaccination Week complements the Annual Child Health Promotion Week, instituted in 2004 by the Ministry of Health to undertake week-long activities in May every year to augment uptake of routine child health services and focus on topical issues that affect the health of children under five.
This year’s theme “Vaccines Bring Us together” reflects the need for stakeholders to ensure that every child is protected against vaccine preventable diseases.
