Gold Fields Ghana presents ambulances to Apinto, Tarkwa gov’t hospitals

Gold Fields Ghana has presented two ambulances to the Tarkwa Government Hospital and the Apinto hospital both in the Tarkwa-Nsauem Municipality.

The ambulances worth two hundred and forty-eight thousand US Dollars are to help enhance healthcare delivery in the municipality.

The General Manger of the Tarkwa Mine of Gold Fields Ghana, Stephen Osei Bempah said the donation is one of the many interventions by the mines to improve healthcare delivery in its host communities.

He said the Goldfields Ghana Foundation has also been sponsoring the Bo Wo Ho Ban health programme which has become a source of information on how to live healthy lifestyles for members of their host communities and beyond.

Mr Osei Bempah said the presentation of the two fully equipped ambulances was on the request of the MP for the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality, George Mireku Duker in February 2019, adding that Goldfields believe that, healthy people build a healthy nation hence its significant investment in the health sector.

The MP for the area, George Mireku Duker thanked the company for its readiness to assist the communities at all times.

He noted that the company has over the years prioritized the fulfillment of it corporate social responsibility to the people of it host communities.

Mr. Duker noted that Goldfields Ghana Limited has supported in diverse ways towards the improvement of the living standards of the people.

He appealed to the beneficiary hospitals to put in place a maintenance plan for the ambulances to keep them in service for as long as possible while using them  for their intended purpose.

The Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Health Director, Caroline Eshun Otoo who received the ambulances noted that the presentation of the two ambulances will increase it fleet of ambulances to four.

She said this will make the provision of quality health care accessible to more people while for the health care worker, work will becomes easier and fulfilling.

Mrs Eshun Otoo thanked Goldfields Ghana for the gesture and it continued support of the activities of the Municipal Health Directorate.
