The Ministry of Health is in search of cash from other stakeholders in the health sector to carry out an expansion project at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Ketu South Municipal Hospital

According to Dr. Kwaku Agyemang-Manu, the Sector Minister, the Government has planned to expand the Unit and they are currently engaging the relevant stakeholders and partners to solicit support for the expansion of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Ketu South Hospital.

He, however, acknowledged the fact that “the current space of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Ketu South Hospital is inadequate to provide service to the number of patients received.

In a related development, the Ministry is aware that, currently the Ketu South Hospital, serves a large population, but, does not have the requisite infrastructure to provide better healthcare services to the people within its catchment area.

“The Ministry through its Volta Regional Directorate has plans to expand the hospital and are currently engaging all the relevant stakeholders and partners to solicit support for its expansion. Our ability to implement this will largely depend on the quantum of budgetary allocation to the Ministry in subsequent years”, he posited.
