The Ministry of Health is to set up an Intelligence Unit to monitor and report on the behaviour and attitudes of workers at public healthcare facilities across Ghana.

The Minister for Health, Dr. Kwaku Agyemang Manu, made the announcement while addressing staff of the Nursing and Midwifery Council at this year’s Mid-Year Performance Review Session at Nsuta in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region.

He noted that setting up of the Health Intelligence Unit will among other objectives deal with the negative attitudes within the healthcare delivery sector.
Some of them he mentioned as baby theft as reported in some of the hospitals, unprofessional attitudes of some health workers and abuse of the system.
The three-day event provided the platform for the management and staff of the Nursing and Midwifery Council to evaluate their performance in relation to target set for the period under review.
