What is coronavirus?

A coronavirus is a kind of common virus that causes an infection in your nose, sinuses, or upper throat.

Common Symptoms of Coronavirus

The symptoms of most coronaviruses are similar to any other upper respiratory infection, including runny nose, coughing, sore throat, and sometimes a fever.

How to protect yourself

To help prevent a coronavirus infection, do the same things you do to avoid the common cold:
• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Keep your hands and fingers away from your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Avoid close contact with people who are infected.
• If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early.

How to protect others
If you have cold-like symptoms, you can help protect others by doing the following
• stay home while you are sick
• avoid close contact with others
• cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
• clean and disinfect objects and surfaces
