Programmes Development Manager of Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights, ARHR, Joyce Amedoe says quality health care should be accessible to all people despite their disability and geographical location.

She said this at a meeting in Accra on the findings of a research which focused on accessibly of health structures to pregnant women, and person with disability in the Central and Volta Regions.

Alliance for Reproductive Health Rights,ARHR, in partnership with STAR Ghana organized the stakeholders meeting on findings of a research conducted in Kofi Kum, Agona Nkran in the Central Region and Tsyokpokose and Adzokoe in the Volta region.

The findings among others showed the unfriendliness of health facilities to persons living with disability, NHIS not covering enough drugs and services provided by health facilities, unavailability of health workers at CHPS compound and the usual no bed syndrome.

The concern is that these problems could prevent the country from attaining SDG 3. The meeting was therefore to get the stakeholders to access the progress made by the country. The Programmes Development Manager of ARHR, Joyce Amedoe urged government and all agencies to ensure that healthcare is accessible to all.

The Central Regional Director of NHIS, Francis Frimpong said the usual three months waiting period for new entries to the NHIS has been reduced to a month. Renewal of cards too can now be done on phone.

The public was reminded that NHIS is free to pregnant women and all forms of delivery are also catered for by the scheme.
