A specialist Pediatrician at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dorothy Asamoah has disclosed that sex is also another form of exercise for pregnant women.
Speaking on the topic “safe exercises for pregnant women” on the GTV Breakfast show, she stated that pregnancy is a period where women go through a lot of body changes like mood changes, and body stress making exercising important for them.
” sex is also an exercise. As you go through sex the body goes through movement ” she added.
However, she cautioned pregnant women to take appropriate sex positions for pregnancy so they do not get “overly tired”.
She added that pregnant women should be taught to do the right exercise because it has a lot of health benefits.
“Some women go through pregnancy with induced hypertension and diabetes, by exercising you reduce their risk of these problems” she opined.
She also advised pregnant women to take a lot of water and vegetables to give them more vitamins and help in the baby’s growth.
