There was drama amid heated debate in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital, during the second day of Vetting of NPP Parliamentary Aspirants in the region after the Vetting Committee was served with a petition against Dennis Obeng Agyei, who is vying for the Akyem Oda seat with incumbent MP, Alexander Akwesi Acquah.

He is being accused of allegedly using foul language, as well as inciting some party faithful against the MP. The Vetting Committee has suspended his exercise, pending investigation into contents of the Petition, a decision which did not go down well with Mr. Obeng Agyei’s supporters.

In an interview, he pledged to exercise patience as the final verdict is decided.

Meanwhile, Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, who is eyeing the New Juaben North seat on the ticket of the NPP, has said his long-standing dedication to public service, coupled with qualities such as integrity, humility and devotion set him apart from other aspirants.

He said he is an indigene of the constituency and therefore qualified to contest, contrary to different opinions on the subject.
