The Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) on the creation of the proposed Oti Region, has assured of the security of the area and is urging voters to turn out in their numbers to vote in the referendum.

Nana Mprah Besemuna III, Krachiwura, and Chairman of the JCC, addressing the media at Dambai, in the Krachi East Municipality, said they were satisfied with the security arrangements put in place by the government.

They were confident that the exercise was going to be smooth, he added.
Nana Besemuna said the pro-Oti activists and the youth were also on the lookout for troublemakers, who might want to disrupt the voting.

“We cannot afford to miss this opportunity after many years of yearning for it”, and he appealed to both indigenes and settlers in the enclave to vote “yes”.

Deputy Minister for Sanitation, and Member of Parliament for Krachi East, Michael Gyato, said all was set for a peaceful and successful referendum.

He reminded eligible voters to make sure that there was strict compliance with the election regulations.

The Electoral Commission’s (EC) Presiding Officer for the special voting in the municipality, Boniface Chikpah described as encouraging the turn out in the early voting.

He said everything they needed – resources and logistics, for the exercise were in place.
About 350,000 people in the Oti enclave are expected to vote in the December 27 referendum.
