2023 Budget to delay due to IMF negotiations

The Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, says the presentation of next year’s budget may be pushed back a couple of weeks, but, will delivered within the date stipulated in the Constitution.

Speaking to Journalists in Parliament, he said due to the ongoing negotiations with the IMF, it may become necessary for the scheduled 15th November, 2022 date for the budget to change.

“I am not sure exactly when, I still need to have some discussions with the Minister responsible for Finance to determine exactly when he will be able to submit the document to us…The discussions that are going on with the IMF, I think it is going to take a while,” the Majority Leader told journalists in Parliament.

Ghana is expecting to receive $3 billion over three years from the International Monetary Fund if an agreement on a program is reached.
